Environment Club started today, June 2008

Friday, 20 June 2008

The Wales Street Primary School's student Environment Club started meeting today.

About 30 kids came at lunchtime to the first meeting today. They had lots of ideas they wanted to do. They wanted to protect endangered animals. They wanted to raise money for koalas.

Louise Young (teacher) and Adam Tiller & Leesa-Mar1e (parent) are the adults looking after the Environment Club. Louise would like more parents to come and help, eg. to take off small groups doing specific activities, eg. Vegie garden, poster making.

Frog Wetland

Some kids wanted to build a frog pond and get some tadpoles from the Merri Creek or Darebin Creek or CERES; perhaps the Growling Grass Frog.

Vegie Garden - a "Temporary" Winter Garden, May 2007

Here is our garden's design, done entirely by the kids:

Parents and kids did the construction of the garden beds in May 2007. The kids did all the planting themselves. See http://groups.google.com.au/group/wsps-kitchen-garden/web/vegie-garden for more info.
